About

Instant Syndicating Standards was created by Nick Vidal as part of his thesis. He was awarded a scholarship from CAPES to study at UFRGS, one of the top universities in Brazil. His project gained attention from the XMPP Standards Foundation and was funded by Google's Summer of Code Program in 2006. This helped to create the first prototype on top of Psi using the XMPP protocol. Work using the HTTP protocol was sponsored by the GIMSCOP research group from the UFRGS university in 2007. This has resulted in the creation of the IOS (Instant Operating System) and the ITOP (Instant Desktop Environment) standards. In 2009, the Knight Foundation has donated a grant to build ISS support for Drupal.
